Funding

CAREERS client Isabel Bradley presents Peoples United Community Foundation Vice President, Executive Director Karen Galbo with an Award of Appreciation for the foundation’s generous support over the past 3 years.

CAREERS is a 501(C)3 private not-for-profit agency that receives funding from several sources enabling us to provide free services to clients and employers.

On average, about 88% of our operating funds come from state and federal sources, including Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR), the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the NY State Office of Mental Health (OMH). In addition, 12% of our funding comes from donations from individuals and grants from foundations, corporations or organizations.

There is no “pork” in CAREERS’ budget. The majority of donations are spent on providing direct service to clients. On average, about 84% of our expenses provide direct services to clients, while only 13% fund general and administrative expenses and 3% goes to fundraising.
