Funding

Chris Meyer, right, a 24 year employee of Curry Automotive in Peekskill, along with his CAREERS’ Employment Specialist Mary Filipponi, present an Award of Appreciation to Gwen Campbell, to thank Curry Automotive for once again sponsoring our Annual Anniversary event. Curry currently employs four CAREERS clients.

CAREERS is a 501(C)3 private not-for-profit agency that receives funding from several sources enabling us to provide free services to clients and employers.

On average, about 87% of our operating funds come from state and federal sources, including Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR), the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and the NY State Office of Mental Health (OMH). In addition, 13% of our funding comes from donations from individuals and grants from foundations, corporations or organizations.

There is no “pork” in CAREERS’ budget. The majority of donations are spent on providing direct service to clients. On average, about 81% of our expenses provide direct services to clients, while only 16% fund general and administrative expenses and 3% goes to fundraising.
